What does it mean to be saved?

The Bible says:

Every person has sinned:  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

We should have to pay for our sin, but Jesus paid the price for us:  The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

When we confess our sins and believe in Jesus He forgives us:  If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved (Romans 10:9-10).

When we receive His forgiveness we become children of God:  To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

We also have assurance that we will go to Heaven when we die:  1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
